Instant Pot and Air Fryer Disney BBQ Pulled Pork Waffle Fries (Copy Cat)

Quarantine Week 11

On our quest to keep eating at home interesting an fun, we are continuing with our Disney themed dinners and this one is as easy as it is delicious. If you have ever been to Walt Disney World, you know the Magic Kingdom is split into 6 distinct lands. One of my family’s favorites is Frontierland especially a small walk-up restaurant called The Golden Oak Outpost where they serve crispy waffle fries topped with BBQ Pulled Pork and cole slaw. It is pretty fantastic!

Here’s a hot to video to make this fun, kid friendly dinner:

And for those who are on the west coast and prefer Disneyland in Anaheim, at the Harbor Galley they serve it over a baked potato (even though there it’s BBQ chicken).

Instant Pot and Air Fryer Disney’s BBQ Pulled Pork Waffle Fries (Copy Cat)

recipe by Lana Horruitiner-Perez converted from Walt Disney and Disneyland’s recipe

BBQ Pulled Pork:

Cole Slaw:

  • 1 bag of Cole Slaw Mix
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbl Buttermilk (you can leave it out)
  • 1/2 Tbl Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 1/2 Tbl Sugar
  • 1 Tbl Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 bag frozen Waffle Fries

or

  • 4 – 6 Russet Potatoes

Prepare the Instant Pot Easy BBQ Pulled Pork according to the recipe in the link. Set aside.

While the BBQ Pork is cooking in the Instant Pot, start assembling the Cole Slaw.

In a large bowl whisk together 1/2 cup Mayonnaise, 2 Tbl Buttermilk, 1/2 Tbl Apple Cider Vinegar, 2 1/2 Tbl Sugar, 1 Tbl Lemon Juice, 1/2 tsp Ground Pepper, and 1/4 tsp Salt.

Add the bag of Cole Slaw Mix and gently fold it into the sauce. Cover and place int the fridge. (You can do this the night before if you want.)

Instant Air Fryer Waffle Fries

Instant Omni (or other large Air Fryer Toaster Ovens):

Place the black tray on the bottom level. Close the door of the oven and press “AIR FRY” and set the temperature for 420°F and the time for 15 mins.

Add frozen Waffle Fries to the basket tray (it is ok if there is some overlapping). If you would like to make more fries at one time, you can stack the trays like in the picture below.

This is a link to purchase the second basket.

Once the oven is done preheating spray the Waffle Fries with a little Olive Oil and place the basket (or stacked baskets) into the oven.

**If you are using 2 baskets, at 15 minutes take out the top basket and allow the bottom one to cook for a few minutes longer.**

Instant Vortex Plus:

Place the drip tray on the bottom. Press “AIR FRY” and set the temperature for 420°F and the time to 13 minutes.

Spread Waffle Fries in a single layer on the tray (it’s ok if there is some overlapping) and once the oven is done preheating, insert the trays into the Vortex Plus.

You can use 1 or both trays. If using 1 tray, place it in the middle position. If using 2 trays, slide one in the middle position and one in the lower (half way through you will need to flip the trays).

Instant Air Fryer or Instant Pot Baked Potato

If you prefer to serve the BBQ Pulled Pork on a baked potato (and I have to say, this is my favorite way!) You can cook your baked potato in the Instant Omni/Omni Plus, the Vortex Plus, or in the Instant Pot. Below is a link to instructions on how to make them each way.

Instant Pot Baked Potato

When ready to serve, place a large serving of the Waffle Fries or a cut Baked Potato on the plate. Spoon a 1/2 cup of Cole Slaw on top and then add a scoop of the BBQ Pulled Pork.

Buen Provecho!

You are so right, for some reason it didn’t link. I will try and get that fixed tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know. In the meantime, rub with oil, cook on Air Fry, 380 degrees for 35-45 minutes depending on the size. Check with a knife and if it needs more time, just add it.
